KENTLAND FIRE COMPANY RETURNS TONIGHT ! ! ! Your Safety

Tulefog — Fri, 12/05/2008 - 22:00
Dear Battalion Viewers,
As we continue to film firefighters and first responders, I learn more and more about their safety going to scene and the crazy people out there that do not see that big red engine with all the lights and sirens screaming...I don't get it but see it every day we are filming.
I know most firefighters don't want to wear seatbelts but we all know that it makes the first responder safe in the apparatus. I can't say either way, I'm not a firefighter.
I just know that we need to keep the people safe that save lives and that is one of the main reasons we pursured Pierce Manufacturning to become a sponsor of our series...we feel they are the Best in Show!
I have looked at the design of a lot of rigs and now firmly believe that Pierce is one of the safest, if not the safest fire engines on the market, and to my knowledge; one of the only with a UL Approval.
Please take the time to check out the Pierce 360 demo on our product demo page listed with VIDEOS.
This really shows how much they care about your safety.
The air-bags are very cool...
I'd love to see some feedback on our FORUMS.
Be safe.
Sincerely,
DRF

It is hard to believe that as
aeconomedes — Sun, 12/07/2008 - 18:00It is hard to believe that as proud and aggressive the Kentland VFD is that they don't wear their seatbelts. I have also noticed in many of the videos that intersections tend to be busted. It doesnt' appear by the camera that the rigs are slowing down. Guys as you are all well aware of those are two MAJOR killers of our fraternity. There are probably numerous volunteer departments that look up to you fellas and what better way to so that seatbelts and at least slowing down at intersections are great operational procedures. And just FYI I am not one of those safety nazis! I've got 30 years on the job, second generation volunteer and a career FF as well. So I think I know what is good safe practices and what is trying to be "progressive and polictically correct safety is" Keep up the great videos. I am in the process of getting my volunteer membership to get on line and view your operations and dedicated members.
Hi Aeconomedes, I have to
Tulefog — Thu, 12/11/2008 - 17:59Hi Aeconomedes,
I have to agree...
I have been filming for over five years I have only seen a few using thier seatbelts in D.C. and a few in P.G. and now Kentland has a new engine and it has seat belts and I am seeing them being used.
The footage from that engine during filming has note been shown as of yet.
I am not sure if what we have of it filmed...it nothing happened on the calls then you may not see it. We are trying to have more calls that they actually do something and it takes a lot of filming to get what we get...so I hope you see it in the future.
I have been in several of the new engines in Prince George's County that have the seat-belt alert so it has to get buckled and I am seeing them being used by all members in these rigs.
That is what I like about the first Pierce Product demo; it is about the safety of the first responder in the cab. Not only are they one of the best and safest cabs built, but with the air bags it is a great extra measure of safety for those that keep putting their lives on the line in the cab of the rig.
I hope to see more of it...they need to be safe to save lives.
You know tradition more than I do...
I'm just a cameraman.
Sincerely,
DRF
